A LaCrosse Hospital Helps People in Peru

A group of Franciscan Skemp employees help the poor in Peru. Doctors and technicians in the optometry department at the LaCrosse hospital recently returned from a trip to Lima, Peru. Linda Benjamin was one of four employees who fitted these people for glasses says the people were extremely poor. Living on the side of a mountain in small shacks. Trying to cobble enough money together to feed their families. Doesn't leave anything extra for family members who need glasses. Franciscan Skemp isn't just helping people get their hands on glasses. They're also working with the government in Peru to come up with a long term solution. With the goal to someday provide eye care for as many people as possible. Benjamin admits it's an emotional experience helping people who haven't been able to see for a long time.
